A Bit About Me.
Having started my working life as an electrical engineer working down the
Yorkshire coal mines (anyone remember them?!!) I donned a suit and worked
as a salesman in the lighting industry for almost over 30 years.
I knew that I had the soul of a craftsman, I tried courses in dry stone walling,
well in North Yorkshire it's mostly wet stone walling!
Wood seems to conspire against me, and then I was introduced to Mark Constable,
a master Blacksmith and Bladesmith, after spending a day with Mark and his
bucked forge I was hooked. I knew that I had found the thing for me.
After winning two awards at the Great Yorkshire Show and Later being awarded
the prestigious Certificate of Merit from the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths.
I knew that my future involved dirty hands, burnt fingers, and a great deal of
satisfaction. So I swapped the suit and sales targets for a hammer and a forge.
My commute is all of 10 yards and I'm working with hot metal and my imagination.
I hope that you like the results.

The "Energy Spiral"
You will see that many of my designs involve a spiral motif. This design has for
thousands of years and across many civilianizations been regarded as a symbol
of positive energy.
The spiral is all around us, from the treble clef on a music score to sea shells
and the very building blocks of life itself, the DNA double helix. Some people
wear the spiral symbol to encourage positive energy flow and even protect
against mobile phone signals!
Whilst I'm not entirely sure about that, I do know that I love making the spiral
design, probably more than any other piece, so I guess that it brings some
positive energy to me.
Whatever you think or believe I hope that they bring you as much pleasure
owning them as they bring to me making them.

As a hobby blacksmith I was asked to exhibit some of my work at the Great
Yorkshire Show. Always keen on recycling (and as a Yorkshire lad, careful with
my money!)
my pieces were all made from discarded items; old spanners into corkscrews
and knives, nails into leaf pendants and decorative snakes that would easily sit on a 20p piece.
One of the other Blacksmiths was looking at my work and I overheard him say "... Where is this guy's forge based, Lilliput"... The name stuck... And Lilliput Forge was born.
